As a child, I spent the best part of my summers on my grandparents’ farm on Happy Hollow Road in Blacksburg, Va. We were a Navy family living coast-to-coast, but always anchored in Montgomery County. As a young adult, the farm remained my place of solace and rest when life got tough. All these years later, I amazingly find myself a resident of Blacksburg.

 

No matter where I lived, art was always a part of me, even during the 18 years I worked in Germany as a Public Affairs Officer for the Defense Commissary Agency.  I traveled to Italy for watercolor and fresco classes and studied clay sculpture with a lovely German lady. It wasn’t until I moved to Blacksburg I was able to really find out what I could do with art. I am still learning.

 

I work in acrylic, watercolor, pencil and ink.  I take on other “funky” projects when the opportunity presents. I love to try all sorts of mediums and subjects, as you can tell, I’m sure, from my pieces on this website.

 

These days I belong to and lead the Blacksburg Regional Art Association.  I am a member of the Floyd Center for the Arts, Montgomery Museum in Christiansburg, The Studio School in Roanoke, and the Virginia Watercolor Society. I take as many art classes as I can, exhibit often and find the inspiration for my art in many ways and places.  I have earned a few awards and been privileged to be accepted to the Virginia Watercolor Society and the Central Virginia Watercolor Guild juried shows on several occasions thus far.  I have had work in the annual Simply Elemental outdoor installation event at VT’s Hahn Horticulture Garden several times and had windows on the lawns at both the Alexander Black house and Montgomery Museum.
